from 53 reviewsReceived my first subscription issue the other day, and it completely validated why this is such a good idea......as I'd forgotten it was due :-). Of course, I've bought every single issue from day one, but now I get the bonus surprise of future issues just dropping thru my door, and a guarantee I will never miss out on a future issue. It works perfectly, as you'd expect. Thank you Kate and Jack, you're the best!
These wonderful case studies show that it IS possible to be creative in a non traditional or non corporate role, crafting by hand, digitally or as a fusion of the two. It exudes hope that there is another way and a sustainable way and that it is democratically available to all who dare to tread the path. Glorious publication, in full coulour, with a texture that only a genuine print run will have. It feels reassuringly heavy. It’s beautifully arranged… and it’s chock full of other people’s proven ideas that will fuel your own fledgling ideas like wildfire. Absolutely wonderful.
I love this print. Firstly, the quality of the print material is excellent - a lovely matte paper and print finish, with a stylish but subtle brand and layout.
The content is just class. With Maker's stories from across the world, even those who make similar products have a different story to tell - from how they got into it, to why they make their products.
It's always exciting when the email pop's up saying the next edition is on its way, and the satisfying heft of the package once it arrives is just another clue to the testament of this product.
The articles are easy to read, with lovely pictures to go with it. I keep going back to read more!
In a digital fuel world it is nice to have something so tactile and well-made as edition 10 of “we are makers”. It was a pleasure to receive something so delightful in the post-opening up a new world, making a nice cup of tea & sitting for a good read, forcing one self to put down the technological devices all be it for 20 minutes.
The breadth of crafts and makers, the nonsense presentation of people’s stories and the beauty and quality of the publication are all top notch. I’ll definitely purchase more as and when funds allow. 😁
I am delighted to review the We Are Makers Edition 2 coffee table book. It’s jam packed with fascinating features from a wide variety of crafts people and accompanied with stunning photography. It will sit proudly on our coffee table and will be an inspiration for me to one day feature in it.
I've been a fan of the We Are Makers since day one. These publications take pride of place in our library, as its a joy to share them with all our guests, often makers and artists themselves. Always high quality, beautifully presented and genuine stories of makers around the world to delve into.
There are some favourite topics, textiles 😍 and many new to me topics that I am enjoying learning more about. I love that the makers are from all over the place, so you get a peek at where they live and work. The only hard part is trying to read one article at a time, I want to enjoy the magazine over a few weeks
I cant wait for the next edition, they are as inspiring and informative. I read it and then take to show my design students at school who also get a great deal from looking at the work of professional makers.
The quality of the magazine is more like a large paperback book. The paper is of a really good quality/weight and the photographs and information about the makers is inspiring. The adverts that are present are beautifully crafted and unobtrusive within the publication. i have previously bought the main publications and I wasn't sure about subscribing as I thought these might be a different quality or style, however they are exactly the same and is definitely a good investment for reading, being inspired by or even as a coffee table book for anyone to pick up and read a section.
Edition Ten
A Quarterly Coffee Table Magazine.
We choose to collect these makers stories in a beautifully curated coffee table magazine.
Why? We want these stories to be appreciated time and time again. The stories in our magazine are here to stay, they are detached from the algorithm and wont get lost in the noise of the internet. Nor will you whilst reading.
Kate and Jack Lennie.
For the past 5 years we (Kate and Jack) have dedicated our every waking moment to telling makers stories. Why? to get makers, artists, and craftspeople the recognition they deserve.
In doing so we hope to make a positive difference to the creative economy and introduce creative livelihoods to the masses.
Everywhere.
Telling makers' stories irrespective of language barriers, their location, or nationality gives us the ability to bring you a huge range of creatives.
We have featured makers from 41 different countries and personally travelled to 8 different countries and 7 states. Sat in over 80 workshops and spoke with countless makers across almost every timezone.
This is a world of creativity detached from distraction. Your chance to find uninterrupted inspiration.

"It has never been more important to support makers as it is now. In a culture cuffed to mass manufacture, we risk loosing the skills and magic that independent makers bring to the world."
